The centre and soul of the bike. The primary considerations were finding one that found be the right fit for me. Being small at 5′ 2″ most of the shelf frames are not the right size. The second consideration was that I wanted it to be versatile so I could use it for rides, commuting and touring. From the research I did into what to consider for touring bikes I wanted a steel frame as well. I also rode the frames that I could at the shop to see what felt better. (Not that I had much idea what I was looking for). My choice came down to a Surly or the All City Space Horse and the space horse won, in part because the frame I got was on sale at the time I was looking.
From everything I have done with it the frame lives up to the concept of being good for everything. I have taken it on single track like the South Downs Way, smooth tarmac tracks like EuroVelo 1 and gravel fire tracks in the New Forest. As well as it being my daily commuter to work and shopping lugger. The steel frame seems to be doing O.K. and making the bike feel steady/solid when loaded and it feels really nippy when its not.
