To Blog or Not to Blog…

That is my question…. (corny, I know).

Be warned — ramble coming — as I am currently experimenting with this…

For all that I am ‘young’ I am not really into technology, in fact my brother jokes that I should have a tinfoil hat. I’ve not really got into social media, and only signed up to Facebook for stalking people and following interesting groups (Adventure Queens and Bicycle Travelling Women are two), rather than creating posts. I am not a big one for living my life online, sharing only a perfect image of it. So the concept of online blogging has never really appealed to me…

I do however keep a paper journal. I roughly follow the principles of bullet journaling but based on a year to week format rather than the month to day originally proposed. I have been perfecting the process for a number of years and really enjoy creating it, here are some images…

Through out this journal I record the adventures I have, designs for stuff, bikepacking information and planning for my 2020 adventure year off. I use a Lomography Instax camera to take a photos to include along with tickets and other interesting things.

But when I am off adventuring, how do I share my stories and updates with those that are interested? Family and friends specially. I can send the journals home and then they can be seen, I can email but then that might be a lot of messages to send and might not leave anything for other people to read.

I read Frances Grier’s Gobi Bike Blog and I really enjoyed it. It helped with my questions and was an engaging view of cycling by bike. I would like to add to the information available for others and maybe inspire more to do it or their own version… so I’m going to have a crack at this blogging malarkey despite my reservations!
